Ex F1-pilot d’Ambrosio hops on Swiss electric bike
Former Belgian Formula 1 pilot Jérôme d’Ambrosio jumps onto the Swiss electric folding bike Voltitude by investing in the startup and become ‘global brand ambassador’ for the company. He will also reside within the advice committee.
“Electric bicycles will play a major role in the future”, d’Ambrosio says, “especially in the so called last mile. There is a lot of talk about the range of electric cars, but the electric bicycle has a lot of potential for the last 2 to 3 kilometers.”
According to a press release d’Ambrosio and French designer Mathieu Lehanneur are helping the Swiss startup in return for a ‘unknown share’ of the company. The company, situated near the French border in Switzerland, is running a crowd funding operation to find 1 million Swiss francs (857.000 euro).
The Belgian pilot is already deeply into electric driving by being one of the house pilots of the Dragon Racing team in the Formula E, the electric alternative for F1 racing, that is held in major cities in the world.
