Only two Belgians can buy Mercedes-AMG’s 2,2 million ‘Project ONE’ supercar
Only two Belgians will be allowed to buy one of the to 275 units limited series of the Mercedes-AMG’s ‘Project ONE’ supercar, one living in Flanders, one in Brussels. Price tag: 2,275 million euro without VAT.
In the Netherlands only one will be lucky. This was heard on Monday evening at the world premiere in Frankfurt, at the eve of the IAA motor show. Many more Belgian and worldwide candidate-buyers miss the boat. The series was sold out instantly.
Being developed out of Formula One motor sports, Mercedes F1 driver and world champion Lewis Hamilton was the one who drove the supercar on stage on Monday. The car, with the latest hybrid F1 technology, is a tribute to AMG, Mercedes’ sports division’s 50th anniversary.
Revving at 11.000 rpm
The light weight carbon-fibre hyper-sportscar has an 1.6 V6 engine originating from the F1, capable of revving at 11.000 rpm – unseen in a road-going car – and four electro motors giving it more than 1.000 hp power and a top speed of 350 kph. It can accelerate from 0 to 200 kph in 6 seconds. “And all of it road legal”, Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the board of Daimler AG and CEO of Mercedes said at the presentation.
