CAR-institute: ‘VW making the cleanest diesels of all’
Work in progress
Germany on top
The test proves that the German car makers in particular have reduced their NOx-emissions seriously. A part from Volkswagen, BMW and Mini scored well. Mercedes exceeds the standard 4,2 times, what according to the ADAC has to do with the use of Renault-engines in several models.
The new 2.0-liter diesel engine of Mercedes on the other hand is among the best, together with the VW Passat 2.0 TDI. But the best is the BMW 520d with an emission of 28 milligram.
Renault in trouble
Renault exceeds the admitted volume of NOx no less than 11 times and is followed by Fiat/Chrysler and Volvo. “Renault first wants to comply with the official RDE-test. We are developing the technology to meet the future standards and offer already an update to improve the emissions”, says Renault-spokesman Karl Schuybroek.
Marc Pecqueur on the other hand is not surprised by Renault’s results. “The French have been hiding behind the fact that dieselgate struck the German car makers. But by now, Renault will be aware it is in trouble too.”
