Volkswagen offers up to 12.000 euro to replace old diesel car
In Germany Volkswagen owners who trade in their old Volkswagen diesel car, can get reduction from 2.000 to 12.000 euro when buying a new clean Volkswagen. At this moment the Belgian importer D’Ieteren has no such plans.
Two year after dieselgate, which concerns more than 11 million Volkswagen cars, the diesel engine is still under fire because, apart from VW, also other car makers plead guilty. To avoid a diesel ban in major German cities, different car makers promised a software update which will reduce the emission of NOx by 25 to 30%.
In addition to that Volkswagen wants to get the oldest, most polluting diesels of the street by giving bounties to customers buying a new clean Volkswagen car. Customers buying an Up! get a reduction of 2.000 euro. For Golf or Touareg models, this reduction can go up from 5.000 tot even 12.000 euro. Hybrid or electric cars get an extra benefit of 1.785 or 2.380 euro. When buying a car on natural compressed gas an extra reduction of 1.000 euro will be given.
Also other brands of the Volkswagen Group such as Audi, Porsche or Skoda give these benefits to their customers. This campaign will end in December 2017 and runs only in Germany. Also other car manufacturers stimulate clean cars. BMW for example, gives a price reduction of 2.000 euro when buying an electric car.
